Founder of Gulagu.net Vladimir Osechkin was arrested in absentia

In early October 2021, the human rights project Gulagu.net announced receiving a secret video archive showing the torture and rape of convicts in Russian correctional facilities in the Irkutsk, Saratov, and Vladimir regions. The publication of the archive caused a strong public outcry.
The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested Vladimir Osechkin, the founder of Gulagu.net, in absentia in a case involving military "fakes". The case was brought to court March 21.
It became known in October 2022 that a case involving military "fakes" had been initiated against Osechkin. The reason for this was the publication on the Gulagu.net YouTube channel, which was posted in March 2022.
The human rights activist has been living outside Russia since 2015.
